The Master Instructional Designer™ Program will take place May 03-05, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Conduct a needs assessment for learning programs that:aligns organizational objectives and the learning opportunity
    • aligns organizational objectives and the learning opportunity
    • addresses target populations’ specific needs
    • identifies constraints and/or problems affecting design success
    • includes basic outcomes of the learning solution linked to business problems or opportunities.
  • Design learning solutions that reflect adult learning theories, and best address the needs of the learners and the organization through formal classroom training, blended learning, online learning, and informal approaches.
  • Use a collaborative approach with stakeholders (such as internal clients and subject matter experts) throughout a learning design project to:
    • plan and design the solution
    • select and/or create effective learning materials
    • establish sign-off and approval processes for each step of the design process.
  • Create complete learning solutions including:
    • measurable learning objectives
    • instructional content that reflects the diversity of the learners
    • a variety of learning methods and emerging technologies to reach learning outcomes.
  • Identify appropriate evaluation techniques and apply them to measure the impact of the learning solution.


  • Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) responsible for instructional design.
  • More experienced instructional designers seeking to confirm their mastery of this area of expertise.

Facilitator Information

Mimi BantaMimi Banta – Mimi Banta, a skilled facilitator and organization development consultant, has over 25 years of experience helping private, public sector, and not-for-profit organizations implement training and development initiatives that produce results. Clients rely on her ability to diagnose training needs, engage executives in development efforts, design and conduct training, and equip in-house staff to be effective trainers.

In addition to an educational background in psychology and adult education, Mimi is certified to use a variety of tools such as the Career Architect, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assessment, "I Speak Your Language," and Change Style Indicator. She is also affiliated with Netspeed Leadership, Learning Tree International, and is master certified in Achieve Global products and services. 




Kimberly DevlinKimberly Devlin – With her combined passions for effective communication and relevant workplace learning, Kimberly Devlin’s focus is always on providing direct, complete, and compelling deliverables. In the training room, her focus is on supporting each learner in meeting their specific learning goals. She achieves this, in part, through engaging and interactive learning that is purpose-driven, enjoyable, and immediately applicable.

As a senior professional in Employee and Organizational Development with a Masters Degree from the University of Miami, she was among the first in the industry to attain ATD’s CPLP certification. Her state-of-the-industry credentials and diverse experience bring real-world examples and stories to the training room. Kimberly’s experience extends to city, county, and state government agencies across the U.S. as well as working with Fortune 500 firms here and in South America. She has been a contributor to the ATD community both locally and nationally for many years, serving on boards, presenting conference sessions at ICE and ALC, and also volunteering time for ATD initiatives.
