Training Certificate

The premier train-the-trainer program.

Gain a practical, how-to overview of the entire training function. Through modeling of the best practices and latest techniques in training delivery, discover the 4Ps of training: Purpose & Assessment, Planning & Preparation, Presentation & Facilitation, and Performance & Evaluation. New trainers will gain a strong foundation in critical training skills and seasoned trainers will be introduced to new approaches for delivering powerful training.

The Training Certificate will take place on May 03-05, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the training cycle.
  • Identify and determine the need for training—what, who, and how.
  • Write effective learning objectives.
  • Design participant-oriented learning materials and exercises.
  • Apply adult learning concepts, develop supportive climates, and customize off-the-shelf materials.
  • Use training activities and alternatives to lecture, strategize for different learning needs, and create effective questioning techniques.

Audience

This program is ideal for new trainers or experienced trainers who have not had formal education in training. It is also for those trainers who need a refresher to improve their classroom techniques and methods to transfer learning to work situations.

Facilitator Information

Nadine MartinNadine Martin – Nadine Martin is president and CEO of NWM Consulting, a small independent firm focusing on learning design, development, and delivery to help employees increase business results. She has spent the majority of her career in the technology learning field. She also has been the technology training manager for Northeast Utilities (a New England-based utility company), the IS learning manager for LL Bean and the e-learning manager for Bean. During her corporate career, Martin helped to introduce the accelerated learning methodology at both companies as well as help to redesign the way in which learning was done at the company. She is certified in the usage of the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument and has been utilizing technology to deliver learning for most of her career. Martin has bachelor's and master's degrees in education as well as having done post-graduate work in counseling.

 

Carrie AddingtonCarrie Addington – Carrie Addington is an internal ATD Facilitator. She is a down-to-earth educator and people development coach with a passion for delivering effective communication solutions with a spirited energy. As a business consultant and educator for the past 10 years, Carrie has worked with a wide variety of business segments including retail, beauty, education, and nonprofits, and has worked with C-level executives, directors, managers, and high potentials. She has experience designing and delivering customized management and self-development programs, including personal coaching on strategy and communication. She has delivered training on key business management principles for small business owners through Bumble and Bumble University in New York, deemed the “Harvard of Hair” by the Harvard Business Review, to classrooms ranging from 20 to 150 attendees. Carrie has delivered on topics ranging from energetic accountability, leadership, and great feedback to cross-generational communication, resolving conflict, and presentation skills. Carrie is a part of the coaching network with the prominent, global executive leadership and management company, The Mind Gym. She has a master of fine arts, poetry, from George Mason University and serves on the board of the American Poetry Museum in Washington, D.C. Carrie is passionate about using her love of language and the arts to work with individuals on establishing deeper connections with their daily work.
